Monthly Butoh workshops
Camille Rasera
Camille Raséra is a Butoh performer who was trained by artists such as Masaki Iwana and Moeno Wakamatsu. Her performance work is based on a deep attunement to space and the movements of consciousness. “When a phenomenon becomes perceptible to consciousness, the two become one (consciousness and the phenomenon). I am the phenomenon; the phenomenon enhances my existence, and I enhance its own. And yet, at the same time, I am the one who observes. I postulate a consciousness that must perish and be reborn at every moment in order to welcome the phenomenon without presupposing or interpreting it.” (Camille).
As a butoh performer, she is active on the Belgian scene (Théâtre de la vie, Tic tac Art
Center, L’Armande, Artist Commons), but also internationally (France, Japan, New York). She is a member of La sombre compagnie, one of the companies working to develop Butoh on the Brussels scene.

about the Butoh class
The Body as Landscape
In these workshops, we will begin with somatic work followed by a more dynamic physical training session designed to improve coordination, flexibility, and muscle strength, combined with attuning to the space and the moment’s imbalance to prepare us for performance.
Next, we will explore the movements of consciousness linked to precise physical work, and the way in which consciousness settles upon a phenomenon (or allows a phenomenon to emerge) and assimilates it.
We will work on the body as matter, the body as a continuation of space and space as a continuation of the body—the performer as a conduit between the phenomenon and the audience.
