Rebecca Lenearts

Rebecca Lenaerts has a background in theatre (RITCS, Brussels). Her work consists of interventions, installations, performances and the intersection between those genres, often outside the confines of the performing arts circuit. She works with elderly people in care centres and with people who experience homelessness. Strongly inspired by the philosophy and practice of Butoh she consistently puts the body with its potential, limitations and vulnerability in the forefront of her work. She studied with Iwana Masaki and followed training with Motoya Kondo, Yoshito Ohno, Vangeline and Yumiko Yoshioka, amongst many others. Since 2023 she coördinates the weekly Butoh Lab at Tictac Art Centre Brussels and gives Butoh initiation at the Conservatorium of Antwerp.
